Frequently asked questions

Why convert between GPA scales?

Different countries/universities use different scales. For foreign admissions or job applications, you may need to convert your CGPA. Pakistani universities use 4.0, some use percentage. International universities may use 5.0 or 10.0.

How is conversion calculated?

Linear ratio: (Your GPA / Original Scale Max) × New Scale Max. Example: 3.5 / 4.0 = 0.875, then 0.875 × 100 = 87.5%.

Is this conversion accepted by foreign universities?

Linear conversion is approximate. Some universities require WES or specific evaluation services. For exact conversion, check the destination university's policy. This calculator gives a reasonable estimate.

Pakistani 4.0 to US 4.0 difference?

Both use 4.0 scale but grade boundaries may differ. Pakistani A is usually 80%+, US A might be 90%+. So same percentage may give different GPA. Use this as estimate.

How to convert 10-point scale (Indian) to 4-point?

Use ratio: GPA × (4/10). Example: 8.5 CGPA × 0.4 = 3.4 GPA on 4.0 scale. This is the most common conversion method.

What's the percentage equivalent of 4.0 GPA?

Approximate equivalents: 4.0 GPA ≈ 90-100%, 3.5 GPA ≈ 80-89%, 3.0 GPA ≈ 70-79%, 2.5 GPA ≈ 60-69%, 2.0 GPA ≈ 50-59%.
