Frequently asked questions
What is aggregate in Pakistani admissions?
Aggregate is a weighted percentage combining your Matric, FSc, and Entry Test results. It determines your merit position. Different universities use different weightings.
Standard weightings for major universities?
ETEA: Matric 10% + FSc 40% + Test 50%. NUST: FSc 25% + Test 75%. UHS (Medical): Matric 10% + FSc 40% + MDCAT 50%. Always check your target university's specific formula.
How is aggregate calculated?
Convert each to percentage, multiply by weight, sum up. Example: Matric 900/1100 (81.8%) × 10% + FSc 850/1100 (77.3%) × 40% + Test 180/200 (90%) × 50% = 84.10% aggregate.
Minimum aggregate for top universities?
Top medical colleges (KEMU, AKU): 88-92%. NUST engineering: 80-85%. UET: 75-85% (depends on program). Government colleges vary by district. These are competitive estimates — actual cutoffs vary yearly.
Can I improve aggregate after results?
If unhappy with FSc, you can repeat. Many students retake entry tests (MDCAT, ECAT, NTS) to improve scores. Some universities accept improved subjects in supplementary.
Does Matric SSC weight matter?
Less than you think — typically only 10% weight. So 80% in Matric vs 90% only changes aggregate by 1%. Focus more on FSc (40%) and entry test (50%).
